400 million. That’s the number of people under the age of 18 that live in India alone. Approximately 40% of the population of the nations of South Asia are under 18. They face all the pressures and struggles children around the world face—they have friends who hurt them, bullies who call them names, parents who do their best to understand them but may not always succeed, and parents who are absent. They wonder what their future will hold and if they will raise families of their own. They face pressures to try alcohol, drugs, and other destructive behaviors. Each one has a longing deep in his or her soul to love and be loved and cherished.
Children in many places across South Asia face other threats as well. They face diseases that would be simply treated by an antibiotic in some places but could claim their lives or the lives of their loved ones. They face knowing that they will never have a chance to finish receiving an education because they must work to support the family—even if they are only nine or ten years old. They face the very real threat of trafficking. They face the question that haunts every heart—does anyone care?
Please pray that each one of these precious young people will hear the amazing truth that Jesus cares, that He alone can fill the longing in their hearts to be loved and cherished no matter their past, their present, or their future. http://www.gfa.org/pray/youth/
