“Despite the insecurity in all aspects of life, we want everyone to return here and together to work for our God who loves us so much.”
Those are the words of a pastor in northern Mali whose congregation experienced a bomb scare Sunday, January 12. Their church was previously looted, so they have been meeting in a school. But military patrols discovered explosives near the school Sunday morning. The explosives were safely diffused. Please pray for the congregation’s courage, faith, and protection. Almost twice as many Christians were killed for their faith in 2013 than were killed in 2012. Last year, more Christians in Syria were killed than all around the world in 2012. Please pray for those grieving lost loved ones. Pray for encouragement for those who are struggling. And pray that God would bring the persecutors to a saving relationship with Him. Pray also for a Lebanese priest and his community whose library was burned to the ground. You can find the story at http://www.worldwatchmonitor.org/2014/01/2926792/.
How hard would life be if society looked down on you in every way possible? How hard would life be if you were considered the lowest person in the lowest people group in an entire nation? How hard would it be to know people respected their animals more than they did you?
Dalit women in India don’t have to wonder. They live this reality every day. But thanks to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, they are discovering a life-changing fact—no matter what this world calls them or does to them, they MATTER. They are of infinite worth to the Lord Jesus Christ. And when they hear that He loves them enough to give His life for them and come back to life to give them a new life, they are responding. They are asking Him for this new life. And they are changing.
Their outside circumstances may or may not change. But they are changing, on the inside. They are becoming new creations. Please pray with me that every person who feels worthless will know the love of Jesus and accept the new life He alone can provide. And good news is coming from Southeast Asia, too! A team was able to provide medical services to refugees who had not seen a doctor in two years! And Bibles were smuggled into a closed country. Please pray that God will continue to meet the needs of all those who seek Him. You can read more about the team at http://www.mnnonline.org/news/teams-return-with-reports-of-praise-and-hope/.
